The Transport Department recently received a request to help a fund raising event in aid of the Children's Hospice South West, a more worthy cause is hard to imagine. The event which took place on Saturday the 6 th May was held to celebrate the fact that the Hospice is 10 years old this year. Ten South Petherwin gardens were opened to the public, afternoon tea was provided in two gardens and an evening barbeque in a third. A mini bus had been hired from Launceston College to transport the guests from the car park and around the gardens. I am pleased to say that two of the CCfV volunteer drivers, Ivor Stephens and Stuart Gregory, agreed to help by driving the minibus on a circular tour from the car park around the gardens which had been especially opened to the public to help raise money for the Hospice. The organiser Lavinia Archer sent her congratulation to us saying that the drivers were wonderful; it now seems we may have a date for next year. Well done to these two volunteers and to all the many other volunteer drivers who help so many people on a daily basis throughout Cornwall. Brian C Smith |
